Molly finds a pair of silver shoes in her Grandmother's chest of drawers (which she still wears when she goes dancing with Grandad) and is determined to get her very own silver shoes for her dancing class. In the meanwhile she has to dance in her ordinary shoes while other members of the class sport their regulation silver tap shoes. All ends well when she receives her own pair on her birthday. As such shoes are nowadays fairly affordable and normally a pre-requisite for classes, this may make the storyline a bit forced, but this matters little in a book with such stunning illustrations, so lavishly displayed in this generously proportioned book. Coincidentally, Molly is from a mixed family and the book is very strong on portraying regular loving, harmonious relations between members of her white and black family and friends.
