In this the second book about the relationship between Mr Pusskins and his owner Emily, peace and harmony are disturbed by the arrival of (from Mr P’s point of view) an unwelcome intruder. Emily presents Mr P with a ‘fabulous surprise’, a demure looking kitten called Little Whiskers who wreaks havoc whenever Emily’s back is turned. When Mr P is thrown out of the house for something Little Whiskers has done, it looks as if his cosy life with Emily is over…

Every child who has been unjustly blamed for something another child has done will identify with Mr Pusskins, a long haired furry ball of rage, indignation and hurt from his quivering tail to his expressive whiskers. His chunky frame is freely rendered in powerful dabs of black and brown paint, the antithesis of shorthaired, innocent looking Little Whiskers with her dainty paws, pink cheeks and devious charm. Sam Lloyd resolves the dilemma wittily and harmony is restored. Every element of this confidently crafted picture book – from the squirly lettering to the well paced crescendo points is beautifully orchestrated. Irresistible.
