Dave skives off school for the day to go and watch the England team he idolises. Well-managed tensions (will his Mum find out?) and cleverly-written 'Match of the Day' type accounts of the action. There are well drawn bonds between the adults and the kids, and open, lively writing from an author who knows how to spin a story.
