Gwion journeys between Lindisfarne and York, Carlisle and Chester, though none of these names appears since he travels with Celtic war hosts struggling to resist the Sea Wolves, advancing from the East. He ends with a new name, Taliesin, and will become the harper whose songs of this struggle have survived. There's a strong sense of time, terrain and loss. For experienced literary readers.
