Peg doll Tilly's resourcefulness is really stretched to its limit in this her second adventure, in which she rescues her teddybear friend Edward who has failed to return with a Christmas tree one evening. Unlike many sequels, this one more than lives up to expectations as once again Faith Jaques has created a wholly satisfying and enchanting picture-story book. I must stress that this is not just a Christmas story. It is much too good to be restricted to seasonal reading, rather let it be read and re-read all through the year.
